OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE FUTURE OF THE ASSET ADMINISTRATION SHELL

We are delighted to have been present and actively participated in this year’s IDTA Tech Days in Frankfurt am Main. The two-day event offered not only an exciting conference track focused on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) but also a developer track with hands-on workshops for developers. With 174 participants, the IDTA Tech Days provided ample opportunities for networking and exchanging ideas.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE EVENT

The first day showcased diverse and cutting-edge applications of the AAS, emphasizing its vital role across various industries. Key discussions included:

• Digital Product Passport (DPP 4.0): In line with EU regulations, its integration into the AAS was explored as a critical enabler for sustainable product lifecycle management.
• Product Change Notification: Highlighting how AAS facilitates efficient communication in product development.
• Digitization in the Fluid Power Industry: Demonstrating the transformative impact of AAS on traditional sectors.

The IDTA also provided valuable insights into ongoing international efforts, especially in ISO/IEC standardization, underscoring the AAS’s role in setting global benchmarks for industrial digitization.

NEOCEPTION CONTRIBUTION

We are especially proud of the contribution from Andreas Wick, our Head of Product Management at Neoception GmbH, who had a big part in the session on “AAS Architecture Elements.“.

The presentation highlighted key aspects of AAS architecture, from both provider and customer perspectives, and was referenced by several speakers throughout the event. His insights helped advance the conversation around practical applications and future development of AAS solutions.

Quote of Andreas Wick regarding the benefits of providing standardized data points, which caused a laugh:

“It enables you to consume or interact with any application that can finally build on standardized data points and data models fulfilling use cases! Finally, I do not need to take care of all the data providers… And if I think more than 2 meters about it, I can build new applications way faster now. Hopefully, this sticks because long term it really properly enables the digital transformation, we all need to keep pace with the global competition and get an edge on it… And by the way: Semantically described datapoints are a gold mine for the future of AI based models… Just to throw in a hype key word for good measure.”
